Today, while it maintains its strong working class roots, Bay View has become one of the more desirable areas to live in Milwaukee, with lakefront property in the area costing well above that in the center of downtown. The South Shore Yacht Club is one of Wisconsin’s largest clubs. The Queens Cup Race held every year at the end of June, is one of the oldest cups in world yachting and is one of the most coveted trophies in racing.
In more recent years, Bay View has become a trendy, cheap (for now at least) place to live for many of Milwaukee’s young professionals. This revival has new bars and restaurants popping up in old garages and carriage houses, while other night life hot spots that have been around forever, are starting to attract a young, hipster crowd. People have even started calling Bay View the “Other East Side.”
I wanna see what all this hype is about….
